I Hope I Make My Clients Feel This Way!


From time to time (less often than one would hope) I encounter someone who really goes out of their way to ensure that I (the customer/client) have an extraordinary experience as a patron of their business. It really doesn't matter what the venue or transaction is, I am always impressed when someone does their job so well that you really take notice.

Often, in the course of a short sale, I find myself assisting a seller with things outside the scope of the basic transaction; finding a rental home, moving accomodations, and storage. Ironically I met Jim, of Foothill Ranch Stor-It Self Storage, because I needed to store some of my families excess possessions.

What strikes me most about Jim is his genuine expression of concern for customers. He really thinks about how he can make your experience with his company better and he conveys this in deeds rather than words. I won't bore you with the details but my experience with Jim and Foothill Ranch Stor-It Self Storage got me thinking about how I serve my clients.

Do my clients feel like I am going the extra mile for them?

The thing is... it's not something you can say or "pitch" to a client, you just have to be willing and able to do whatever it takes to further their best interests. They will sense it / feel it when you are freely able to provide service to them without reminding them at every turn of all that you've done on their behalf.

You may be reading this and saying to yourself "I do that, I am like that." For me this was a reminder to remain committed to the ideal of doing whatever I can to help my clients without thinking about how it will compensate me. You see, with Jim, I feel certain he's not thinking about how it will come back to him. He would behave the same regardless of his line of work... He's thinking about how he can help you and no further. Providing a good service to others is fulfilling to him. To truly be successful in real estate I think "this" has to be operating in you. Here's to Jim for reminding me of what's important. Yes, I know we do it to make a living but I am happy to be reminded that it is actually so much more.
